Problem:
The manufacturer of hydraulic / electronic components for the railroad industry used NPT plugs and experienced air pressure loss in the brake systems on their rail equipment. Loss of pressure placed heavy demands on the compressors which caused more maintenance and wear.
Use Description
The NPT plugs were used in aluminum manifold cross drilled NPT ports. The plugs may or may not be removed for access.
Solution
The manifolds were converted to SAE J1926 ports and Zero-Leak Gold Plugs were specified to eliminate the back out and pressure loss problems they had been experiencing.
Results
No air pressure loss while using ZLGP has been reported.
