EPCO Products, New Haven, Ind., has expanded its range of ZeroLeak Gold fittings to include couplings and adjustable SAE J514 straight thread fittings. The fittings are designed to be absolutely leak-free while being reusable and interchangeable with SAE straight thread fluid system fittings.

The Zero-Leak Gold fittings were first available in 1994 and incorporate a taper under the fitting head which forms a metal-to-metal seal with the taper in the SAE J1926 port. The taper uses proprietary geometry that results in an exceptionally high unit loading at the interface with lower assembly torques, reducing the chance for plug or thread damage due to overtightening.

While the metal-to-metal seal provides the primary sealing, the elastomeric O-ring seal acts as a backup. The taper in the metal-to-metal seal also provides an increased level of resistance to vibration, pressure spikes and temperature variations, the company said. In addition, the plugs require no chemical sealants, won't back out and can be removed and resealed without a loss of sealing integrity.

"Our fittings are truly unique," said Fritz Aichele, EPCO president. "You hear a lot about fittings that are virtually leak-free or that just weep a little. These won't leak -- guaranteed."

EPCO's line of patented Zero-Leak Gold fittings includes the Zero-Leak Gold port entry and adjustable port entry fittings, as well as hex, socket head and magnetic plugs.
