EPCO Products of Fort Wayne, Indiana recently announced that their line of Zero-Leak Gold® Plugs has been expanded to include metric sizes. The new socket metric plugs can be distinguished from their standard Zero-Leak Gold SAE counterparts by the more pronounced bevel on the top of the plugs as well as the metric size engraved on each plug. The hex head metric plugs have the sizes engraved as well. The Zero-Leak Gold Metric Plugs are used for hydraulic, diesel and other fluid power applications.

Zero-Leak Gold Metric Plugs offer a number of significant advantages over the old style O-ring only straight thread counterparts. Most important, they’re guaranteed not to back out or leak, even in vibration, temperature change and pressure spike situations. They require no chemical sealants, eliminating the risk of fluid system contamination during removal and reinsertion. And Zero-Leak Gold Metric Plugs can be resealed repeatedly without loss of effectiveness.

A taper under the head forms a metal to metal seal with the taper in the port by providing exceptionally high unit loading at the interface. This seal in conjunction with an elastomeric backup seal, which is located below the taper on the head of the plug, outperforms any old style metric straight thread O-ring only plug.
